History

Comments

Anthony J Klein (1855-1903) was one of the early residents of this section of Wabash Avenue. In June 1892, he took out a building permit to erect a $4000, two-story brick residence on lots thirteen to sixteen in Block Seventy of the Lamasco City plat. By 1893, he and his family were settled in their new house. Founded The family stayed on in the house and participated with Rosenberger in running the broom company.

In 1943, the property was sold and the old Klein residence was used for thirty years afterwards as a rest home

Since 1975 it has been owned and occupied by the University of Southern Indiana chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity TKE which, in 1986, carried out an extensive renovation project.
