john schueler opens brewery 1857 union brewery on canal courthouse block * Union Brewery, L Rice & Co. At the corner of Vine and Canal (5th) e corner [1858 - 1868] j scheuler bought out by louis rice 1863 named union brewery

closed 1869 failed venture occupied by a "low class of white people" nuisance cleared out by city land purchased by city 1873 courthouse built c1890 evansville medical society cleaned it up used it rent free >still in 1880 map and 1884 sanborn?
