Tekoppel School began in 1909 as a four room brick building. Public School District No. 10 help overcrowding at ingleside school tekopple Each room had its own heating stove. There was no basement or indoor plumbing. Students brought their lunches. If they had to use the restroom, they had to go to the outhouse. Indoor plumbing was installed at Tekoppel in 1934. Tekoppel Ave Public School [1922] In 1938, Tekoppel started a public kindergarten, the first county school in the state of Indiana to do so. Rear added at some point <1962 Tekoppel was remodeled in 1950 and kindergarten through sixth grade were in one building. acquired tekoppel as city annexed 50s tekoppel annexed and enlarged 50s In 1962, the "new" building was completed, a sizeable addition to the west and north fronting Tekoppel Ave. Tekoppel became a K-8 school. In 1984, the EVSC changed from a K-8 system. Tekoppel became a K-5 elementary school and middle schools were established. For sixth through eighth grade, Tekoppel students now go to Helfrich Park Middle School and then to Reitz High School.
