History

The Franklin Street House was built c1870 as a boarding house. A saloon was located on the bottom floor franklin st house [1884]? real estate spec says built 1869 1891 "little more than a private boarding house with a saloon in the front portion of the house" Franklin House was in the corner building -1898CD

A one story warehouse was built to the left c1887 (226 Franklin St). That addition was later replaced or made 3-story with matching brickwork sometime around 1902 likely when renamed ec 6-19-01 plans to enlare drawing in 11-20-1901 paper 1896 heyns building a large three story brick

saloon was in the corner building (230) 1899CD Heyns Furniture Co 1899 was in the left buildings remodeled and enlarged 1901 new cornice added closed sometime around death 1930 charles klenck co 1922 (chas c klenck & co)

Spillman Hotel [1940] spillman restaurant 1932-1944 (1944-47) = 1897 1950 Day & Nite restaurant/hotel and Robert Irwin liquors La Palma Hotel (florence spillman) 19 yrs

Swonder Mattress Co fire caused damage left third of building

remodeled 2008 but stalled

2012 Tin Man Brewing Co opens
